Injury Management Plan
We will prepare an Injury Management Plan (IMP) for your injured worker if they require more than seven consecutive days off work. An IMP:
- Provides you, your injured employee and the treating doctor with a detailed plan of what’s required to get the employee back to work safely, including medical management, treatment and rehabilitation goals.
- States the responsibilities of all parties and details the consequences of not meeting any obligations
- Is developed with all parties within 20 working days of CCI being notified of the injury.
Prepare a Return to Work plan
Your Return to Work plan should:
- Describe what you will do to help your injured workers return to work
- Be based on the treating doctor’s recommendations and have his/her approval, and be coordinated with the IMP
- Be developed in consultation with your injured worker
If a treating doctor declares your injured worker able to work, but not in their usual job, you must also try to find them suitable duties while they recover. They could involve:
- Elements of their usual job
- Reduced hours
- Different duties
- Training
When looking for suitable duties consider:
- What the doctor has said your workers are capable of doing
- The age, education and skills of your workers
- Where they live
- The type of duties that benefit your business, keeping in mind you must not give your workers demeaning tasks.
