Catholic Church Insurance Limited Status as Subscriber to the General Insurance Code of Practice
From 13 May 2025, Catholic Church Insurance Limited (CCI) will no longer subscribe to the General Insurance Code of Practice (the Code).
CCI’s decision to withdraw as a subscriber to the Code is in line with its strategic objective to wind down its operations in an orderly manner and in doing so to manage its operating expenses prudently, noting that:
- On 30 May 2023, CCI announced that it would be entering run-off and would cease writing new insurance business and renewing policies; and
- On 3 November 2023, CCI’s Scheme of Arrangement pursuant to section 411 of the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) took effect.
General insurers subscribing to the Code must meet a set of standards which aim to promote open, honest and fair service delivery to customers. Although the General Insurance Code Governance Committee will no longer be able to monitor CCI’s performance under Code from 13 May 2025, CCI maintains its commitment to acting in the best interests of all policyholders.
CCI will remain a member of the Insurance Council of Australia until 13 November 2025.
Further information on the Code is available on the General Insurance Code Governance Committee and the Insurance Council of Australia websites.
